The chemical formula of scandium oxide is Sc2O3. Properties: White solid. Density 3.864. Melting point 2403ºC±20ºC. Insoluble in water, soluble in hot acid. It is made by thermal decomposition of scandium salt.
It can be used as a evaporation material for semiconductor coating. Solid state laser with variable wavelength and high definition TV electron gun, metal halide lamp etc.
