Product Description

Ferrous sulfate is an inorganic substance, the chemical formula is FeSO4, the appearance is white powder odorless. Its crystalline hydrate is heptahydrate at normal temperature, commonly known as "green alum", light green crystal, which is weathered in dry air and oxidized to brown on the surface of the basic iron sulfate in humid air, becoming tetrahydrate at 56.6ºC and monohydrate at 65ºC. Ferrous sulfate is soluble in water and almost insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution oxidizes slowly in air when it is cold, and oxidizes faster when it is hot. Adding alkali or exposure to light can accelerate its oxidation. The relative density (d15) is 1.897. It's stimulating. Ferrous sulfate can be used as chromatographic reagent and spot analysis for the determination of platinum, selenium-, nitrite and nitrate. Ferrous sulfate can also be used as a reducing agent, the manufacture of ferrite, water purification, polymerization catalyst, photographic plate making, etc.

Application

 

1. Used as paper sizing agent in the paper industry to enhance the water resistance and seepage resistance of paper;

2, soluble in water can make the water fine particles and natural colloids condensed into large flocculent, so as to remove from the water, so used as water supply and wastewater coagulant;

3, used as turbid water purifier, also used as precipitating agent, fixing agent, filler and so on. It is used as raw material (astringent) in cosmetics to suppress perspiration.

4, fire industry, with baking soda, foaming agent foam extinguishing agent;

5, analytical reagents, mordant, tanning agent, oil decolorizing agent, wood preservatives;

6, albumin pasteurization stabilizer (including liquid or frozen whole eggs, white or yolk);

7, can be used as raw materials for the manufacture of artificial gems and senior ammonium alum, other aluminate;

8, in the fuel industry, in the production of chromium yellow and lake dye as a precipitator, but also plays the role of solid color and filling agent.

9, used as an effective crosslinking agent for animal glue, and can improve the viscosity of animal glue. It is also used as the curing agent of urea-formaldehyde adhesives. 20% aqueous solution has a faster curing speed.
