Magnesium oxide is a type of inorganic substance known as MgO, which is an oxide of magnesium, an ionic compound. It is a white solid at room temperature. Magnesium oxide exists in nature in the form of square magnesite and is the raw material of magnesium smelting.

 

Magnesium oxide has high fire resistance and insulation properties. After 1000ºC above high temperature burning can be converted into crystals, rise to 1500-2000 °C into dead burning magnesium oxide (magnesia) or sintered magnesium oxide.

Properties	White powder is odorless, nontoxic, melting point is 2852 ºC, boiling point is 3600 ºC, relative density is 3.58 (25 ºC). Soluble in acid and ammonium salt solutions, insoluble in alcohol. Solubility in water is 0.00062 g / 100 mL (0 °C)

Application

1, can be used to produce magnesite products. Such as magnesite cement, it as a new type of cement, light weight, high strength, heat insulation and fire prevention, environmental protection and energy saving advantages, widely used in building materials, municipal, agriculture, machinery and other fields.

2, can be used in advanced lubricating oil processing, as a cleaner, vanadium inhibitor, desulfurizer, so that the lubrication film density and rheology greatly improved.

 

3, can be used for health care products, food additives, color stabilizer, pH regulator.

 

4, can be used in the field of biopharmaceutical, as antacid, adsorbent, complexing filter aid, can make the excessive stomach acid to be inhibited and relieved.

 

5, magnesium oxide also has good magnetic conductivity and insulation.

 

6, is the standard of white paint. Crucible magnesium oxide can be used as a raw material to make ceramics, enamels,refractory cauldrons and firebricks.
