Ammonium aluminum sulfate is colorless, transparent crystal or white powder.  It is slightly soluble in water, dilute acid and glycerin and is acidic in water solubility.  Insoluble in alcohols.  It often exists in the form of 12 water of crystallization [ammonium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, common name ammonium alum, chemical formula NH4Al(SO4)2·12H2O]. 
It is white or grey flake,particle or massive crystallization.

Application

1.Water treatment
Aluminium sulfate is used in water purification it causes impurities to coagulate into larger particles and then settle to the bottom of the container (or be filtered out)
2.Textile agent
In dyeing and printing cloth, the gelatinous precipitate helps the dye adhere to the clothing fibers by rendering the pigment insoluble.
3.Others
Aluminium sulfate is sometimes used to reduce the pH of garden soil, medicine and food,etc.
