Phoshoric acid, also known as orthophos-phoric acid, is a common inorganic acid. It is a medium-strong acid with the chemical formula H3PO4 and a molecular weight of 97.995.

Not volatile, not easy to decompose, almost no oxidation. It has the commonness of acid and is a ternary weak acid. Its acidity is weaker than , sulfuric acid , but stronger than acetic acid and boric acid.

Phos-phoric acid dehydrates easily in air. Heat loses water to pyro phos-phoric acid, and further loses water to metaphosphate.

Phosphoric acid is mainly used in  food, fertilizer and other industries, including as rust inhibitors, food additives
